Absolutely beautiful...so calming! Will you share the patterns for the rest of the squares? I am fighting 3 autoimmune disorders...which is very inconvenient. Lol. I spend a lot of time crocheting for the church shawl ministry, but I would like to make a lap blanket for myself. :-) If you do not wish to share the patterns, I certainly understand. Have a great day.

Thank you for getting in touch Judy. I can't believe you have all of that to battle! I admire your sense of humour in the face of it...
I am indeed planning to share the patterns for the rest of the squares. In fact it's been on my to-do list for months, so thank you for reminding me to get that done!

This is lovely. How do I print it off or save?

Eline @ Pasta & Patchwork link

Hi Helen, I'm afraid the pattern is currently not printable so you'd need to save/bookmark the webpage. However, I am working on making this and my other patterns downloadable and printable, so please bear with me! Thanks for stopping by.

I would like to make this granny square with Red Heart Super Saver yarn and wanted to know if I used a 5.5mm hook how big would the square be? Looking to make a 10 inch square….. TIA

Eline @ Pasta & Patchwork link

I think you would end up with a square that is just short of 10", but it would be easy to add another row (or two) of standard granny square trebles. In other words, repeat rows 6 and 7 until you get to the size you want. Hope that helps!

I saw one of your granny squares at Mooglyblog.com on a Hookin On Hump Day post and followed it to your lovely blog. I have never seen the color scheme you designed your blog with, AND used in this fabulous pattern (really? It's your first? Wow! Congratulate yourself on a job very well done!) and the blanket this square will go in! Its so soothing! And the blanket squares? I just love the colors! I'd have never thought of it, so thank you so much for sharing your progress, and your first granny square pattern with us!

Oh Maschelle you know how to make a girl feel warm and fluffy! Thank you so much for your lovely words. I'm a little obsessed with this colour scheme, so it's really nice to know someone else out there likes it too :-)

I'm new to crocheting and I spent about 4 hours the other night teaching myself the stitches for this pattern and completing my first square!! I absolutely love it. I'm debating now whether to complete a full blanket with this one pattern or offset it with one other pattern. -Any suggestions? If I do use another pattern I'd use the #6 from your chart or a simple granny square. Any help/advice would be appreciated! As it's my first blanket I don't want to spend a lot of time working on something I'll regret later!!

Eline @ Pasta & Patchwork link
4/22/2015 03:15:17 am

It's so lovely to know you taught yourself crochet just to make this! Well done, it's not an easy one to start with.

As for your blanket, I think a lot of this comes down to personal preference... If it were me I would go for a bit of variety, but that's purely because I would get bored making the same square over and over! I think a blanket with just this square would still look nice though. Alternatively I think offsetting it with #6 is a great idea (I personally love the sunburst square). Or what about doing all three: this one, a plain granny, then a sunburst, then a plain granny, then this one, etc. until you get the size of blanket you want?

If I were you I would try a few squares, a few combinations, and see what you like. I understand the desire to get it right first time, but it doesn't always work that way unless you follow a pattern for an entire blanket to the letter. If you want to have a bit of your own creative input, you have to be prepared to make changes sometimes. For what it's worth, I've changed and redone more sections of this blanket more times than I care to count!

Hope that helps. Let me know how you get on x

Hey, I'm trying to make a granny square blanket similar to yours using different squares. Struggling to find different patterns so all my squares come out the same size, if I use the same hook an yarn will they come out the same?

Eline @ Pasta & Patchwork link
4/23/2015 04:27:10 am

Hi Ashley, using the same hook and yarn does help, but that's not all there is to it. What matters is the stitch count - if you want identical squares you must end up with the same number of stitches on the final row of each pattern. This is quite difficult to ensure as granny square patterns don't tend to include stitch counts! There is a way around it though: use a joining method that allows you to skip a stitch here and there if you have one square that has a higher stitch count than the other. This is a very good tutorial on how to use such a method: http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/crochet-tutorials/joining-crochet-squares-part-4-joining-crochet-squares-different-stitch-counts/

Hi Lena, have a look at this site for a useful photo tutorial: http://carinascraftblog.wardi.dk/2009/06/granny-square-joining-tutorial.html
I adapted it slightly to join my squares. If you scroll down past the list of patterns in this post, you can see a photo of the result:

The instructions need to be written in the traditional way. Row 4 and on need to be explained more. A beginner will have no idea what to do. There is no such thing as a "standing" stitch. A Triple Crochet (TR) is a Triple Crochet and a Double Crochet is a Double Crochet.

Eline @ Pasta & Patchwork link
1/2/2016 02:00:30 pm

I'm sorry to hear my pattern is written in a way that you're not keen on. Having had a careful read through it again, however, I don't think it needs to be rewritten. I've explained each step clearly and any unusual or difficult stitches are referenced. If you get stuck with it at any point, you can always contact me directly for help.

I think this pattern is lovely and got through round 4 no problem, but I am struggling to read the pattern on round 5. To be fair, it is probably a me problem, as I learned with video tutorials, but I'm hoping you can clarify. When you say TC (DC) 1, what does that mean? To me, it says treble crochet (double crochet) 1, but it doesn't make sense to me. Two stitches does not equal one, lol

Hi Shelena, it's great to know you like the pattern. As it says in the notes, the terms before the brackets are UK, and the terms inside the brackets are US. If you are more familiar with UK terms. therefore, just ignore everything inside the brackets!

Conni

Thank you so much for including the US terminology right in the pattern! Your instructions are very clear and the design is gorgeous!😍. I'm going to give it a shot.

Hi! I love this pattern on triple puff granny square! I wondering, i am a swedish blogger who crochet alot and I wonder if it is okey for you if I translate your pattern to swedish and of course link to your blog. Have a nice day!

Hi Susanne! I'm so glad you like this pattern enough to want to translate it. Yes, you may translate it into Swedish as long as you add "original pattern by Eline Alcocer at www.emmyandlien.com" (I´m moving to a new blog soon!) and link as appropriate at the start and end of the post. Would you mind sending me the link to your post when it´s ready? I'll be sure to share it. Thanks!

I found a perfect afghan to make for my sofa. I had to wait until I moved so I would be cat-free. Have found some other beautiful squares which I have included. And now I found yours. My afghan has grown enough to make a small lapghan for the love seat. So beautiful and your colors are perfect. Thank you.
